Okay, I know, you've heard that one before. But it rather sums me up. I'm a trained pastry chef and have worked in the industry. I'm also a political scientist and am currently getting a master's in politics and communications. I suppose politics and pastry aren't all that different; they're both about raising dough. (That was probably worse than the lawyer joke, but I hope I at least earned a pity laugh!)
To the point: I started this blog when I was still getting my BA (in political science) to help myself prepare for culinary school. I kept it up to chronicle the amazing 10-month adventure that was the Classic Pastry Arts program at the French Culinary Institute (now known as the International Culinary Center). After I left school it was a way to take you along with me as I started my career as a working pastry chef. But now it's something dearer to me. It's my outlet for all my creative energy. It's a way to share my passion while I pursue my interest in politics (and my probably masochistic desire to go back to school.)
I hope you enjoy reading my ramblings and seeing my delicious, if I do say so myself, creations. Most importantly, I hope I inspire you bake (and if I can find time to make a TARDIS cake while I'm working on formative essays, you can certainly find a little time to make a pie or some scones, so no 'I'm too busy' excuses!)
